Jacqueline Cowan appointed to Olympic Programme
Commission
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 16, 2024.- Jacqueline Cowan,
President of Jamaica Volleyball Association, was recently appointed to
be a member of the Olympic Programme. Commission.
Jackie, member of the NORCECA Board of Administration, was elected
member of the Olympic Porgramme Commission this past August, a
commission that has the responsibility for analyzing Summer, Winter and
Youth Olympic Games programmes, which forms proposals for consideration
by the IOC Executive Board.
This important commission makes sure that the Olympic programme remains
relevant to young people by ensuring innovation and adapting to modern
tastes and new trends, while respecting the history and tradition of the
sports by thoroughly evaluating the sports and events in close
cooperation with the respective International Federations.
In addition to developing a programme that maximizes the popularity of
the Olympic Games while containing costs and complexity.
Jackie is also the First Vice President of the Jamaica Olympic
Association (JOA), post to which she was elected in 2021, becoming the
fist female to hold this post in the history of the JOA. She also is
Chair of the JOA Women’s Commission, General Secretary of Caribbean
Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) and member of the NORCECA Sports
Organizing Commission. |
